Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book Club

The Books Around the Corner Science Fiction/Fantasy Book Club meets monthly on the second Tuesday of every month at 6PM. We would like to extend an invitation to all of our science fiction and fantasy loving customers (RSVP is not required). It will alternate monthly between Science Fiction and Fantasy.

Our book discussions aim to bring people together to talk about books in a safe and inviting atmosphere. Our meetings are lovely and inclusive; we invite you to attend. Come and enjoy a lively discussion about the chosen book with other readers.

Join us November 12th for our Books Around the Corner Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book Club. September will be a Fantasy Pick.

We will discuss The Seas of Distant Stars by Francesca Varela. Francesca will join the book club for a Q&A at 6:30pm.

About the Book:
Agapanthus was kidnapped when she was only two years old, but she doesn’t remember it. In fact, she doesn’t remember her home planet at all. All she knows is Deeyae, the land of two suns; the land of great, red waters. Her foster-family cares for her, and at first that’s enough. But, as she grows older, Agapanthus is bothered by the differences between them. As an Exchanger, she’s frail and tall, not short and strong. And, even though she was raised Deeyan, she certainly isn’t treated like one. One day, an Exchanger boy completes the Deeyan rite-of-passage, and Agapanthus is inspired to try the same. But, when she teams up with him, her quest to become Deeyan transforms into her quest to find the truth–of who she is, and of which star she belongs to.

Join us on Tuesday October 14th at 6pm for our Books Around the Corner Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book Club.

We will discuss Storm Front by Jim Butcher.

About the book:

In this first book in the offbeat Dresden Files, readers are introduced to Harry Dresden, a wizard with a consulting practice in modern-day Chicago. Dresdens profession offers him little money, lots of mockery, the suspicion of his magical colleagues, and plenty of danger.
